Course Outline
The course offers you a holistic understanding of the world of business and provides you with the economic tools necessary to understand, interpret and analyse the world in which we live.
You will study the skills and knowledge that are used in the key areas of business organisation; marketing, production, finance and human resources.
You will consider how businesses are affected by their political, economic, social and technological environments. The economics element of the course will involve you developing a knowledge of how individual markets and whole economies work.
The course offers the opportunity to develop a critical understanding of organisations and economies to acquire a range of relevant business and generic skills, including decision making and problem solving skills. You will also learn how new or existing businesses generate new business ideas considering the effects of market competition, the economic climate and how businesses seek to minimise uncertainty.
At A2-level you will learn about international business and the wider economic environment and business including why markets fail; how government policy affects the economy, and the growth of China and India.
Entry Requirements
Six GCSEs at grade C or above including minimum grade B in English, Maths and a business related subject.
Assessment
Two exams in Year 12; two exams in Year 13.
Progression
This qualification will provide you with a solid foundation for studies at a higher level in business related subjects like economics, business studies, law and accountancy and progression to a wide range of business related professions.
