Course Outline
This course will encourage your interest in and enthusiasm for history. It will provide you with an understanding of its intrinsic value and significance. You will be able to build on your understanding of the past and become an effective and independent learner as well as a critical and reflective thinker.
You will be expected to ask relevant and significant questions about the past and develop your research skills to complete tasks. You will also be expected to demonstrate your understanding of the past through explanation and analysis, developing high order skills such as synthesis, change and continuity. History is interesting and fascinating; you will enjoy the diversity and challenge of the subject.
Entry Requirements
Six GCSEs at grade C or above including minimum grade B in English and minimum grade B in History or a humanities related subject.
Assessment
80% examination, 20% coursework.
Progression
History is a highly respected subject, and studying it will enable you to develop skills that you will be able to use in a wide range of employments. For example in politics, public administration, teaching and the media, in business, administration, marketing, accountancy, in the law, journalism, archaeology and tourism. The subject will offer you the mental flexibility to adapt to a range of career options.
