Course Outline

18 Units - equivalent to three A-levels

Students taking this course will gain experience and knowledge of dance and drama and have the opportunity to develop skills in singing, a variety of dance styles, music performance and technology, acting and movement as well as production skills in sound, lighting, and video.

You will take part in productions which involve:  music, drama and dance and which may take place within IC6 or in theatres and arts venues around Islington. You will have the opportunity to take workshop sessions with a range of professionals including: - theatre companies, directors, writers, administrators and technical staff.

Students will also complete a block of work experience at a venue or with a company in the performance area that interests you.

Entry Requirements

Five GCSE at grade C or above, including English and Maths and at least a grade B in a related GCSE or a Merit grade in a Level 2 vocational qualification.  A high level of interest and ability is needed. An interview and audition is also required.

Assessment

Course work and practical assessment throughout the two years.

Progression

The Diploma can provide a basis for progression to higher education and further arts related qualifications or employment in such areas as, technical theatre work, community arts, studio work, arts administration and performance.
