A Level English Language
English Language can be defined as studying the ‘Science of English’ or Linguistics. This course will develop your interest through studying a range of every day texts and analyse their use of structures, grammar and language. You will develop your ability to express yourself in speech and writing, producing texts for different audiences, purposes and in different genres. It will also develop your understanding of linguistic concepts and methods in order to analyse a variety of texts.
Over the two years, you will focus on language within different social contexts, analysing Language and Power, Language and Gender, Language and Technology, Child Language Acquisition and Language Change; as well as producing your own writing for different audiences and purposes.
