For the fifth successive year St Aloysius’ College is one of the highest achieving secondary schools in Islington. In 2015 100% of our students achieved 5 or more A* – C grades at GCSE. Our high standards are reflected in our Ofsted Report of March 2012 which judged us to be ‘outstanding’ in all core areas of Teaching, Achievement, Leadership, Behaviour and Safety. The inspection team were deeply impressed with the behaviour, attitude and response they received from an overwhelming majority of our boys and concluded that the boys believe “it’s cool to be clever and to learn at St Aloysius”.

We are a college of long standing tradition having served the local Catholic community since 1879. We are a Christian community which welcomes students of all faiths and in so doing promotes other world faith values.

Following a complete refurbishment in 2010 our facilities and resources are now outstanding – a new sports hall; extensive computing facilities available for boys to use in class and beyond to support their independent research; all classrooms and laboratories fitted with electronic whiteboards and projectors and a purpose built music suite catering for the many pupils receiving instrumental tuition and for our successful bands and ensembles. Furthermore our purpose built Sixth Form Centre was opened for use in September 2014, complete with common room, study centre, computer suite and specially designed tutorial rooms.

This gives our sixth form students a sense of independence from the younger pupils whilst at the same time enables them to fully benefit from the extensive facilities on offer and of course from the excellent teaching at St Aloysius’ College.

We are a Maths and ICT Specialist and Academy Trust College and were awarded the most improved college nationally in 2010 in these subject specialisms.

We consistently achieve outstanding sporting success both locally and nationally in football, basketball and athletics including National U17 Basketball Champions in 2012 and National U17 Football Champions in 2016.

“St Aloysius’ is an outstanding school and one that keeps getting better” Ofsted 2012
