Central Foundation is a unique school effectively combining a blend of modern and traditional values. We are inspired by our exceptional history and the success of our alumni, whilst at the same time always looking to the future.
We are committed to all our students achieving outstanding outcomes and leaving us as young people equipped with the skills, attitudes, knowledge, understanding and qualifications necessary to thrive in a rapidly changing world
We run bespoke programmes for students through our ‘Central Futures’ team supporting them in getting into their university of choice or into high quality employment or training. The Key Project programme, run in partnership with Slaughter and May, a top law firm, and The Access Project charity, aim to ensure that students go on to study at the best possible universities. Our recent record of getting pupils into Russell group universities is something we are particularly proud of. Our ‘Central Futures’ team has a wealth of contacts within the city and provides outstanding support and guidance for students who wish to opt for a vocational pathway during and after the Sixth Form.
The excellent facilities of the sixth form centre include seven fully equipped ICT rooms, which are also used for teaching and private study as well as a common room. There is a large sixth form team which comprises of the Deputy Head, overseeing the Sixth Form, an Assistant Head in charge of A-levels, an Assistant Head in charge of our vocational provision, Head of Year 12 and 13, Careers Officer and Study supervisors.
When the school was inspected in February 2015, Ofsted judged the Sixth Form provision to be ‘outstanding’ making the following comments:
“Outstanding…students achieve highly and are well prepared for the next stage of their education, training and employment” Ofsted 2015
