The City of London Academy Islington has a successful and dynamic sixth form. We provide our sixth form students with an outstanding academic experience that will prepare them exceptionally well for higher education and the career path of their choosing.

Our provision within the sixth form is outstanding. Our students achieve outstanding results in their Advanced Level and BTEC Level 3 qualifications, with a pass rate of 100%, and many students achieving the top grades. 91% of students secured a place at university in 2018, including places at prestigious Russell Group universities.

The transition from Key Stage 4 to sixth form is very challenging for all students. We recognise how crucial it is to provide our students with tailored support to ensure that the transition is as smooth and successful as possible. We offer a friendly and supportive learning environment with a strong focus on academic rigour, self-discipline and the highest educational aspirations.

We support our students to achieve their very best and to equip themselves with the educational knowledge and personal attributes needed to achieve this.

As a smaller sixth form, we are able to offer individualised support and smaller class sizes enabling our students to make outstanding progress. Our primary focus is on providing a highly academic curriculum, with the majority of courses on offer being A Levels. We also have a vocational pathway offering BTEC qualifications for students would benefit from this style of learning and assessment.

Sixth form students play an active part in the House system and have a bespoke tutor programme. As the oldest students in the Academy, it is expected that they serve as outstanding role models to younger students. The House system also provides our sixth form students with invaluable opportunities to develop their leadership skills.

The Head Boy, Head Girl and Senior Student Leadership Team serve as outstanding ambassadors for the Academy’s student community. They represent the Academy at prestigious events and host important visitors to the Academy. They are also invited to attend senior leadership team and governors’ meetings to represent the views and interests of the student body.

Through our high quality work experience placements and excellent careers advice, our links with the City of London Corporation and City University London, our enrichment activities and the many other outreach opportunities we offer, we provide our students with the very best experiences and guidance to enable them to succeed.

The entire sixth form team looks forward to meeting you and helping you through this exciting time in your education.
